Built with Intention
For Meagan Berkhout, design was never merely a career choice - it was an inevitability.
The seeds were sown on the Central Coast of NSW, where a young Meagan would spend her afternoons unravelling her mother’s cabinetry, reimagining and redesigning them to suit her own budding vision. This early curiosity blossomed into a lifelong passion for collecting and breathing new life into vintage furniture- a devotion to the "soul" within an object that remains at the heart of her work today.
Before sinking her teeth into interior design, Meagan spent a decade navigating the fast-paced worlds of marketing, events, and project management. While studying at the Sydney Design School, she initially applied her eye to event and editorial styling - mastering the art of creating beautiful, high-end, yet temporary environments.
Seeking more permanence, Meagan moved into retail commercial design with the agency PIM Group. There, she was able to hone a rigorous technical edge, managing large-scale brand activations and builds within prestigious commercial retailers including David Jones, Heinemann at Sydney International Airport, and Lagardère in Auckland Airport. Working alongside industrial designers and international fabricators, she mastered the "invisible" architecture of design: technical drawings, material science, and the complexities of structural services that allow a space to function seamlessly.
Today, Meagan has traded the high-octane world of commercial fit outs for the sun-drenched landscapes of Noosa. Now focused on raising her young family, her design practice has shifted to what truly matters: the heart of the home. Drawing from both her professional technical expertise and her personal experience navigating complex renovations, she approaches residential design with a rare blend of technical precision and deep empathy.
